This policy explains what personal data we collect when you contact Washing Machine Repair Dublin or book a repair with us, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. We handle personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
The data controller for this business is [Business legal name] (CRO number: [CRO number]), trading as Washing Machine Repair Dublin. We are a service-area appliance repair business based at O’Connell Street, Dublin City Centre, Dublin 1, D01, and we cover Dublin 1–24 (including 6W) and the Fingal towns. For anything to do with your personal data, contact us at hello@washingmachinerepairdublin.com.
The information we collect
We only collect what we need to arrange and carry out a repair:
- Contact details - your name, phone number and email address.
- Visit details - the address and Eircode we are attending, plus any access notes you give us (for example, parking, a gate code, or who will be present).
- Machine and fault details - the brand and model of your machine, the fault or error code, and any photos or videos of the machine or fault that you send us for a first diagnosis.
- Job and payment records - invoices, job histories, warranty records and payment confirmations. Card payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers ourselves.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To carry out your repair - taking the booking, attending your home, diagnosing the fault, ordering parts and completing the work. Lawful basis: performance of a contract with you (or steps taken at your request before a contract).
- To keep you updated - booking confirmations, arrival updates, parts progress and warranty follow-up. Lawful basis: contract and our legitimate interests in running the service properly.
- Invoices and tax records - lawful basis: legal obligation. Irish tax law requires us to keep proper books and records.
- Handling enquiries that don’t become jobs - lawful basis: legitimate interests, so we can respond to you and manage repeat questions sensibly.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone, and we do not add you to marketing lists.
How long we keep it
Job records and invoices are kept for six years, in line with Irish tax record-keeping requirements, and are then deleted or anonymised. Enquiry details that never became a job are deleted within 12 months. Photos or videos you send us are kept with the job record they relate to; if you would like them deleted once the job is closed, just ask.
Who we share it with
We share personal data only where the job requires it:
- Parts suppliers - where a part is ordered for your repair, the supplier receives only the details the order and any delivery need.
- Accountants and tax advisers - who handle our invoices and returns.
- Payment providers - who process card payments on our behalf.
We will also disclose information if the law requires it. Beyond that, your data is not passed to third parties, and it is never sold.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to: access a copy of the personal data we hold about you; have inaccurate data corrected; have your data erased (where the law allows - invoices we must keep for tax purposes are the main exception); restrict or object to how we use it; and receive your data in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email hello@washingmachinerepairdublin.com and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission, Ireland’s data protection regulator (dataprotection.ie). We would appreciate the chance to sort it out with you first.
Cookies
We keep cookies on this website to the minimum. The site uses only the essential cookies needed for it to function. If we add analytics or similar tools in the future, we will update this policy first and describe what they do and how you can control them.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data: access is limited to the people who need it for your job, our devices and accounts are password-protected, and we use reputable providers for payments and email. No system is completely immune to risk, but we work to keep your information proportionately safe for a business of our size.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use personal data, we will update this page and note the date of the change below. The version published here is always the current one.
