Terms of Service

These terms apply to every booking made with [Business legal name], trading as Washing Machine Repair Dublin. We are a service-area repair business based at O'Connell Street, Dublin City Centre, Dublin 1, D01, covering Dublin 1–24 (including 6W) and the Fingal towns. By booking a visit you accept these terms. They are written in plain English, and nothing in them removes or limits the statutory rights you have as a consumer — see the consumer rights section below.

Bookings and access

Someone over 18 must be present for the duration of the visit, unless access has been arranged and authorised with us in advance. We need safe, clear access to the machine: room to work around it, and access to the water shut-off and fuse board where possible. Letting us know about parking, stairs or lift access when you book helps us keep to the agreed time.

For integrated (built-in) machines, the unit usually has to come out of its housing, and the decorative kitchen door and plinth may need to come off. We will explain exactly what is involved before we start. Standard doors and plinths are no problem; unusual or bespoke joinery may need your own joiner, and we will tell you that before any work begins rather than after.

Call-out fee and diagnosis: €79

Our call-out fee is €79. It covers the visit to your home and a full diagnosis of the fault.

If you go ahead with the repair we quote, the €79 is credited in full against the repair price — you never pay it twice.

Dead-machine policy. If we diagnose the fault and advise you that the machine is not worth repairing — or if you simply decide not to proceed — you pay only the €79 call-out for the diagnosis. That is the end of the charge: no further fees, and no pressure from us to go ahead with work we have just told you isn't good value.

Fixed price before work

After diagnosis, we give you a fixed, all-in price covering parts and labour before any repair work starts. No work is carried out without your approval of that price. For most faults the all-in repair lands between €149 and €249; major jobs such as drum bearings or control boards typically run €279 to €420, and we will say plainly if your machine falls into that bracket.

If, once work begins, we find a further fault that changes the picture, we stop, explain what we have found, and re-quote. The decision is yours, and the price already agreed for the original work does not change without your agreement.

Parts

We fit genuine or manufacturer-approved parts wherever they are available. Where a genuine part is obsolete or no longer supplied, we will tell you what the alternatives are before ordering anything.

Many parts arrive within two to five working days; some brands and older models take longer. We will give you the honest estimate when the part is ordered and update you if it slips. The return visit to fit an ordered part carries no second call-out charge — the €79 you already paid covers our visits for that fault.

Warranty: 1-year workmanship warranty

Every repair carries our 1-year workmanship warranty, running for 12 months from the date of the repair. It covers the parts we fitted and our labour on the fault we repaired: if the same fault comes back within the warranty period because of our workmanship or a part we fitted, we will return and put it right at no charge to you.

The warranty does not cover new, unrelated faults; damage caused by misuse or persistent overloading; limescale damage to other components we did not replace; or problems arising from your plumbing or electrical installation rather than the machine itself. Your statutory consumer rights are unaffected by this warranty — it is in addition to them, not instead of them.

Payment

Payment is due on completion of the job. We accept card, cash and bank transfer, and every job — domestic, landlord or agent — receives an invoice. Account terms are available to landlords and letting agents by prior arrangement, invoiced on the terms agreed when the account is opened.

Cancellations and rescheduling

Plans change, and we understand that. If you cancel or reschedule with reasonable notice — ideally the evening before your appointment — there is no charge. If we attend at the agreed time and cannot gain access to the property, the €79 call-out fee applies, as our engineer has travelled and the slot cannot be re-used.

Your consumer rights and our liability

Nothing in these terms removes, restricts or misleads you about your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 or any other Irish consumer law. If there is ever a conflict between these terms and your statutory rights, your statutory rights prevail.

We are liable for loss or damage we cause through negligence, or through failing to carry out our work with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and any dispute will be dealt with by the Irish courts.
