Bosch Washing Machine Repair in Dublin

We repair Bosch washing machines across Dublin in your own home, from Serie 4 workhorses to Serie 8 front loader models. Most Bosch faults we see are drain problems showing E18, leaks into the base showing E23, and worn door locks. You get a fixed price after diagnosis, before any work starts.

Bosch is one of the most common brands in Dublin homes, and for good reason. A Bosch front loader is well built, washes clothes and fabrics properly, and will run for years if the pump, drum and motor are looked after. When one stops, though, the laundry does not wait. A full basket, school uniforms in the drum and detergent sitting in standing water quickly turn a fault code into a household problem. That is why our washing machine repair in Dublin service covers Bosch on every round, northside and southside, with the common Bosch parts carried on the van.

The Bosch models we see most in Dublin

Serie 4 machines are the rental and family standard: simple controls, good spin speed and parts that are still easy to source in Ireland. Serie 6 adds quieter motors and more wash programmes, and we see a lot of them in semis and terraced houses in areas like Raheny, Rathfarnham and Lucan. Serie 8 machines are the premium end, often integrated or tucked into a utility room in newer apartments, with i-DOS detergent dosing on some models. Older Classixx and Exxcel machines are still running in plenty of Dublin homes too. Age alone is not a reason to scrap a Bosch; the build quality means a pump or element change often gives you years more service.

Signature Bosch faults and what they mean

E18 - the machine will not drain

E18 is the Bosch fault we fix most. It means the washer has taken too long to empty the water from the drum. The usual cause is a blocked pump filter full of hair, coins, bra wires, sock fluff and soap residue, or a drain pump that has worn out. Hard water areas make it worse, because limescale and detergent build-up narrow the filter housing over time. Our detailed guide to Bosch error E18 in Dublin walks through the safe filter check you can do yourself. If the filter is clear and the machine still hums without draining, the pump itself needs replacing. See the typical cost on our Dublin repair costs page.

E23 - water in the base

E23 means the anti-flood sensor in the base tray has found water. The machine stops and the pump may run constantly. Causes range from a split door seal or loose hose to a cracked detergent drawer housing. In an apartment this matters doubly, because water in the base today can be a stain on the ceiling of the flat below tomorrow. Isolate the machine at the stopcock, mop up what you can, and do not keep restarting it. We trace the leak, replace the failed part and test the full cycle before we leave.

Door locks, elements and bearings

On older Bosch models the door interlock is a known wear item: the door clicks but the wash never starts, or the lock light flashes. Heating elements fail gradually, so washes get longer and clothes come out cold and poorly washed, with dirt and germs not properly dealt with at low temperatures. Drum bearings announce themselves with a rumbling spin that gets louder month by month. None of these faults mean the machine is finished, but bearings are a bigger job and we will always tell you honestly whether the numbers stack up.

Parts reality in Ireland

Bosch parts availability in Ireland is good. Pumps, door locks, elements, seals and belts for Serie 4, 6 and most Serie 8 models are stocked by Irish and EU suppliers, and common items are on our van for a first-visit fix. Under the EU Right to Repair, which applies in Ireland from 31 July 2026, manufacturers must keep spare parts available for five to ten years and cannot refuse support because an independent repairer worked on the machine before. As independent repairers we fit genuine or quality equivalent parts and give you the guarantee in writing.

What a Bosch repair typically costs in Dublin

  • Blocked filter or pump clear: EUR85 to EUR120
  • Drain pump replacement: EUR120 to EUR180
  • Door lock / interlock: EUR110 to EUR160
  • Heating element: EUR140 to EUR200
  • Door seal / gasket: EUR130 to EUR200
  • Drum bearings: EUR250 to EUR400+
  • Motor or main control board: EUR250 to EUR450+

These are typical Dublin ranges checked in November 2026. Your fixed price is confirmed after diagnosis and before work begins, and the call-out fee is stated clearly when you book. If the repair does not make sense against the price of a new machine at EUR419 to EUR999+, we will say so.

Repair or replace - the Bosch verdict

For a Bosch under ten years old, repair almost always beats replacement for a pump, lock, element or seal fault. Serie 6 and 8 machines in particular are worth fixing: the drum, motor and cabinet are built to last well beyond the first failed part. Bearings or a main board on a machine over twelve years old is the borderline case, and we will price both options honestly. Landlords should note that under the Housing (Standards for Rented Houses) Regulations 2019, Regulation 7, the landlord provides and maintains the washing machine in a rented home, so a prompt Bosch repair is usually the cheapest way to stay compliant. E18 means the machine has failed to drain in the allowed time. Check the pump filter for hair, coins and soap residue first. If the filter is clear, the drain pump is the likely fault.

E23 means water has been detected in the base tray and the anti-flood system has stopped the machine. Turn off the water at the stopcock and book a repair so the leak source can be traced.

Usually yes. Pumps, elements, locks and seals are economical repairs on Serie 4, 6 and 8 machines. We will advise against repair only where bearings or a board make the cost hard to justify.
